Registration tips: Selecting the correct Regulator

Topic: Registration

Why can’t I select the Australian Regulator?

If you are a new user of the registration system and are not familiar with its operation you may have experienced difficulty in selecting the Australian Regulator as your preferred Regulatory Authority within a draft application.

If you wish to offer your products for supply within Australia you will need to submit your application to the Australian Regulator for assessment and approval. Only currently established businesses within New Zealand are able to submit applications to the New Zealand Regulator for assessment and approval.

If you wish to submit your application to the Australian Regulator but find yourself only being presented with the New Zealand Regulator this means you have made an error within your application.

Suppliers wishing to register with the Australian Regulator must select the appropriate product Determination on the 'Registration Type' page of their product registration application. You will need to return to the previous page of your application by selecting the ‘Registration Type’ tab again.

You will note that the page clearly states: “Local and overseas suppliers and manufacturers may submit product registration applications. If you wish to register your product with the Australian GEMS Regulator you must select the appropriate Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Determination. If you are applying for a registration with the New Zealand Regulator, your organisation must be a business already registered in New Zealand and the Regulatory Standard must be selected.”

Therefore, if you select the GEMS Determination and then save and continue, on returning to the Regulatory Authority page, you will be presented with the Australian Regulator as your Regulatory Authority.

To assist users of the registration system, the Suppliers’ User Guide is also available under the Help tab of the registration system. This User Guide provides instructions on how to operate the website effectively and manage your organisation’s Applicant ID and registrations.
