MEPS levels above for unvented water heaters shall be increased by 0.2 kWh/24 hours for each temperature or temperature/pressure relief valve mounted on a hot part of the tank, but not for any valve mounted on a cold water fitting.

For TESAW: Unlike the allowances for MEPS, TESAW levels may be increased by a maximum of 0.2 kWh/24 h where there are 2 or more heating units. Unlike the allowances for MEPS, TESAW levels may be increased by a maximum of 0.2 kWh/24 h where there are 1 or more temperature or temperature/pressure relief valves mounted on a hot part of the tank, but not for any valve mounted on a cold water fitting.

Electric displacement storage water heaters with a static capacity of up to 200 litres and that meet the New Zealand MEPS levels are also deemed to be eligible.

Schedule B: Final TESAW Criteria for 2006 - Gas Products

This document sets out the minimum energy efficiency criteria for each product category which will be eligible for TESAW for 2006. The criteria below shall be used in conjunction with the general criteria for all product categories.

In March 2004, a standby profile was released for mains powered instantaneous gas water heaters. The interim target levels proposed are still under discussion. At this stage, no standby requirements are proposed for TESAW, but standby requirements are likely to be included in a future award year for this product and any other gas appliances which have mains power connections.
