Top Energy Saver Award - label specifications

This page sets out the technical requirements for creating and printing a TESAW label. This page is intended for manufacturers, importers and commercial printers who are responsible for preparing the artwork and printing the labels which are affixed to appliances.

You can download all the detailed label specifications (Version 1, October 2004, 431 kB) for use on your local system (right click and "save target as"). This document contains all the information on this page and copies of the of the relevant images.

You can also download the separate electric and gas electric labels as an Encapsulated Postscript files - these can be used to generate artwork for printing labels if required.

Electric Product Label

Option 1: Separate Electric TESAW Label

The separate electric TESAW label should be affixed adjacent to the normal electric energy label when displayed on appliances offered for sale in accordance with the requirements for the normal energy label for the relevant product. The TESAW electric label has the following specifications:

The TESAW label dimensions are 45mm wide and 73.5mm high.
The font shall be Gill Sans, Humanist 521 or Hammersmith. The preferred font is Gills Sans. Only one font shall be used on a label.
The detailed dimensions and fonts are set out in the TESAW dimension figure which can be viewed or downloaded (PDF file - 233 kB).
The black text shall be Pantone Black.
The red is Pantone Warm Red.
The yellow is Pantone 116.
The green is Pantone 340.
The brand and model shall be included as shown on the TESAW label.

Option 2: Inclusion of the TESAW text in the green band of the electric energy label

As an alternative to the use of a separate TESAW award label, the following text may be incorporated into the green band of the normal energy label as follows:

The green band stays the same width as the energy label (normally 90mm) and the depth is increased to 25mm.
The text "TOP ENERGY SAVER AWARD" is all capitals 18 point.
The text "WINNER 200X" is all capitals 36 point where 200X is the relevant year for the award (e.g. 2004).

Gas Product Label

At this stage, the only option for gas appliances is the specially designed separate TESAW label as shown here. The gas TESAW label should be affixed adjacent to the normal gas energy label when displayed on appliances offered for sale in accordance with the requirements for the normal gas label for the relevant product. The TESAW gas label has the following specifications:

The TESAW label dimensions are 45mm wide and 73.5mm high.
The font shall be Gill Sans, Humanist 521 or Hammersmith. The preferred font is Gills Sans. Only one font shall be used on a label.
The detailed dimensions and fonts are set out in the TESAW dimension figure which can be viewed or downloaded (PDF file - 233 kB). The fonts and layout are the same for the gas label and the electric label.
The black text shall be Pantone Black.
The red is Pantone Warm Red.
The blue is Pantone 2728.
The brand and model shall be included as shown on the TESAW label.
