Products no longer regulated
As part of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water’s ongoing work to monitor and review regulation to ensure it remains fit-for-purpose, GEMS Determinations are removed from time to time.
Decisions to repeal GEMS Determinations are based on a review of the current market and consultation with the public. The process considers factors such as the costs for business and government to regulate products, the energy savings to households and reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.
When a GEMS Determination no longer meets these criteria, participating jurisdictions in the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program can decide that the product no longer requires regulation and that the Determination should be revoked.
