Suppliers, including manufacturers and importers, of swimming pool and spa pool pumps need to ensure applicable pumps meet the mandatory energy efficiency requirements that start on 1 October 2022.

The requirements are established under the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Act 2012 and the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Swimming Pool Pump units) Determination 2021 (the Determination).

The requirements introduce:

• minimum energy performance standards that increase the energy efficiency of pool pumps covered by the Determination
• mandatory energy efficiency labelling for pool pumps, which allow consumers to make informed decisions about their purchases.
