Energy Rating Product Database

The Energy Rating Product Database contains energy efficiency data for products registered with the GEMS Regulator for sale in Australia or New Zealand.

Note: manufacturers can ask for the details of a product to be kept confidential until the product is available for sale.

Accessing central source data

You can find all Australian open government data on data.gov.au, this includes information stored on the Energy Rating Registration Database.

On data.gov.au visit the pages Energy Rating Data for household appliances – Labelled Products and Energy Rating Data for household appliances – Non Labelled products.

This data can be used for displaying Energy Rating Icons. See Using the application programming interface for more information.

Historical energy efficiency data

You an access historical information on the energy efficiency of products registered using the Energy Rating Product Registration system for research and analysis.

This data covers all products that were registered from the commencement of the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Act 2012 until February 2021.

Energy Rating Calculator data

The Energy Rating Calculator is a tool used by consumers and industry to compare similar sized registered appliances. Data from the Energy Rating Registration Database supports the operation of the calculator.

Air conditioners also rely on postcode data to ensure accurate ratings in various climate zones. Visit NatHERS Climate Zone Postcodes on the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme’s website for a list of climate zone postcode data.
